Cavities are formed when your tooth begins to decay and it is a slow process. First, there will be a build-up of food and bacteria on your teeth. If that is not removed and cleaned properly, the food residue and bacteria all form a film/layer on the teeth, which will turn into plaque. This plaque will stay on the teeth and will not go with ordinary brushing and will eventually lead to a cavity.  The places where you find the maximum amount of plaque are cracks, pits and grooves in the teeth, gum area, fillings in the teeth, chipped and broken teeth and in between the teeth.

Over time, the plaque will remain stubborn and reach the inner portions of the teeth (dentin), forming a cavity. Normally, patients ignore these symptoms until the decay happens to a limit where they cannot ignore it and requires professional treatment. Your oral health is important, and you must not be negligent in dealing with issues when they are small.

Getting rid of cavities

There are home remedies that offer methods to get rid of cavities, but the best way to avoid a cavity is to prevent one from happening. And the best way to do this by brushing and flossing regularly. Remove pieces of food and remnants of drinks in between the teeth and gums to sweep away the plaque as and when they occur. Once the plaque hardens, it hardens into another substance known as tartar, and no home remedies can remove that.

Once the cavities start affecting the inner part of the teeth known as dentin, then decay will reach the inner pulp of the tooth, and your dentist will have to perform a filling procedure. If left untreated, the pain will be unbearable. Dentin has little tubes that communicate with the nerves of your teeth, making it sensitive and painful.

Visit your dental centre in Qatar if you have had doubts about your dental health. The faster you visit your dentist, the easier the cure will be. To remove the cavity, the dentist would use a local anaesthetic first to numb the tooth and the tissues around it. This will help numb the pain of the filling procedure.

The filling procedure

The dentist would use his drill tool to remove the decayed portions of the teeth and when all indication of the cavity has been removed, the hole will be filled in with a special polymer and a filled-in tight.

Using fluoride mouthwash daily

Your dentist at the dental clinic in Qatar would give you some interesting tips on how to maintain oral health. One of them is using a fluoride mouthwash; this contains fluoride, a naturally found mineral that can strengthen teeth and reduce cavities. It also reduces the ability of the bacteria to generate acid in the teeth.  Or you can even use fluoride toothpaste.

Reduce sugar

Consuming processed sugar is another way to invite cavities, so try as much as possible to avoid doing that. This is because sugar attracts bad bacteria that can infest in your teeth and stay put, causing plaque build-up. When the plaque is not washed away by brushing and rinsing, or even saliva, it will create an acidic environment in the mouth, where cavities start to form.
