You might be familiar with the phrase, the Eyes are the windows to the soul. It means that by looking into a person’s eyes, you can say what the person thinks and feels. But there is another meaning to it that says looking into a person’s eye can also tell you about the health of the person.  If your eyes are healthy and lively then it means your body is healthy too. By examining the eyes, doctors can gain insight into your health conditions, and what your body is trying to tell you regarding your overall health.

Be aware of these common eye diseases and take necessary precautions:

Age-Related Macular Degeneration - Adults aged 50 or more are likely to suffer from AMD or Age-Related Macular Degeneration. AMD is the central part of the retina that lets you see the finer details in things, and can eventually lead to vision loss. There are two types of AMD - dry AMD and wet AMD.

White ring around the iris - This color change could happen with ageing. But high cholesterol could also be a reason for this. Ignoring this could lead to stroke or heart attack.

Rubbing your eyes too often - You have seasonal allergies if you experience eye rubbing too often. This could cause dryness if you don’t get treatment for this.

Whites of the eyes like yellowed paper - There could be a number of reasons for the yellowish tinge in the whites of your eyes. One major cause could be Jaundice, but then it can also happen for infections like hepatitis, cancer, gallstones or alcohol-related liver disease too.
